Brazosport Health Foundation
Raises over $50,000 at Bluebonnet Social Club

Lake Jackson, TX – July 22, 2010 – Brazosport Health Foundation announced today that they were able to raise $52,412 at the Bluebonnet Social Club, an event to raise funds for continuing high-quality healthcare in Brazoria County. As the fundraising division for Brazosport Regional Health System, the Health Foundation planned an unforgettable night in Freeport.

Over 500 community members packed Freeport Municipal Park on the night of June 25th to “dance, dance, dance” to the Beach Boys Greatest Hits. As attendees arrived, they were greeted by the Texas Caribbean Steel Drum Band with the sounds of the steel pan creating an upbeat and festive atmosphere. The relaxed attire and beach décor provided the perfect backdrop for the original Beach Boys to take the stage. A guitar playing contest and drum off were only a few “fun, fun, fun” activities that the band incorporated into their night of entertainment.

A gift to the Health Foundation is a gift to the community. The financial support of the Bluebonnet Social Club by the corporate sponsors and members of the community enables Brazosport Regional to offer their patients the care, attention and healing they deserve. Top sponsors of the event included Texas Dow Employee Credit Union, Aramark, Dow Chemical, Patient Advocacy, and the City of Freeport. Giving to the Health Foundation has allowed the Health System to complete several critical projects over the last few years including the 26,000 square foot addition for the Dow Women’s Center, Imaging Center and Cardiac Cath Lab, the expansion of the Cancer Center including the purchase of the Elekta Synergy® Radiation Therapy System, and the construction of the Cardiovascular Operating Suite to complete the Cardiac Care Center.

“We are ecstatic about the funds raised from the Bluebonnet Social Club,” stated Daniel Buche, CEO/President of Brazosport Regional. “As a non-profit health system that does not receive any tax dollars, financial support from our community is essential to Brazosport Regional’s success. The funds raised through this event and donations to the Brazosport Health Foundation will continue to be invested into healthcare services and equipment, allowing us to continue to provide top-notch healthcare for the communities we serve.”
