Names New Board Chair

Brazosport Regional Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Speed to Chair of the Board of Trustees. Speed succeeds outgoing chair, Jim Martin, who has served as chairman of the board since 2004.

Since 2003, Mr. Speed has been the President and CEO of Texas Dow Employee Credit Union, the largest locally-owned financial institution on the Texas Gulf Coast with assets of $1.7 billion. He is responsible for enterprise wide executive leadership and overseeing the institution’s growth. Mr. Speed received his Bachelors degree in Business, and Masters of Arts in Theology from St. Mary’s University.

“I am pleased to take on this role and am optimistic about the hospital’s future,” Mr. Speed remarks. “As the 70-year anniversary approaches, I want to help ensure that the Health System remains viable and a valuable resource for the community for many more years to come. Great communities have great medical care.”

During his term, Mr. Speed will work with a team of local business and community leaders, physicians and employees who are all personally invested in Brazosport Regional’s mission of providing Healthcare with Excellence and Compassion. The Board is committed to providing safe, effective, patient-oriented, quality medicine that meets the community’s healthcare needs.
