Welcomes New Pediatrician
 Loni McCuistion, a 1999 graduate of Brazoswood High School, is returning to the area to provide pediatric services to the community. As a past captain of the Buccaneer Belles and a member of the Buc Band, now as Dr. Shepherd, she is excited about returning home to work with children in the local area.
After graduating from Brazoswood High School, Shepherd attended the University of Texas in Austin where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biochemistry. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Texas – Houston Medical School and completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
Dr. Shepherd is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association. While attending residency, Dr. Shepherd completed a research project addressing resident applications of the current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for lipid screening in children, developed a web based educational curriculum teaching residents about obesity and the complications related to being overweight during childhood, and addressed residents’ ability to adhere to guidelines following formal education.
