Coagulation
Coagulation provides a variety of tests to assist the physician with coagulation therapies and offers other diagnostic tools as well. This includes Protime with INR, PTT, fibrinogen, quantitative D-dimer, and platelet function analysis.
- Protime with INR - This test is to check how well blood thinning medications are working. This test can also help detect and diagnose a bleeding disorder.
- Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT) - This test will help tell if you have bleeding or clotting problems. The blood test looks at how long it takes for blood to clot.
- Fibrinogen - This test is ordered with other blood clotting tests like Protime with INR and PTT. This test helps your doctor evaluate your body’s ability to form a blood clot.
- Quantitative D-dimer - This test may be ordered to diagnose or rule out blood clot producing diseases and conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), or disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). In addition to being useful for diagnosis the test may also be used to monitor the progress and treatment of DIC and other blood clotting conditions.
