Brazosport Regional Health System Announces that Shirley Prihoda Has Become a Certified Medical Services Professional
 Shirley Prihoda, CPCS, a Medical Staff Coordinator at Brazosport Regional Health System has received the nationally recognized designation of Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) awarded by the Certification Commission of National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
Medical Services Professionals (MSP) are the people behind the scenes who make certain the credentials of all practitioners who are caring for patients are correct and have been verified. They are experts in provider credentialing and privileging, medical staff organization, accreditation and regulatory compliance, and provider relations in the diverse healthcare industry. MSPs credential and monitor ongoing competence of the physicians and other practitioners who provide patient care services in hospitals, managed care organizations and other healthcare settings. Overall, it is important to Prihoda that each and every patient is ensured absolutely the best care possible in the healthcare organization.
As a lifelong resident of Brazoria County, Prihoda received this designation after passing a rigorous comprehensive exam covering a wide range of knowledge in the field. Prihoda has been employed with Brazosport Regional for over a year and is a member of the National Association Medical Staff Services and Texas Society of Medical Services Specialist.
In addition, Prihoda has been asked to sit on the 2009 Membership and Marketing Committee for NAMSS for a 3-year term. As a member of the committee, Prihoda will coordinate activities to ensure a diverse membership, develop a marketing plan to uphold the organizations corporate identity, establish effective communication, and execute many other responsibilities.
