Safe SitterŪ Classes Held at Brazosport Regional Health System

Brazosport Regional Health System is hosting a Safe SitterŪ class, a national, nonprofit organization that trains young adolescents to be safe, nurturing babysitters. Most tweens lack the knowledge of first aid, rescue skills and behavior management techniques as well as the life experiences necessary for handling medical or household emergencies.

The comprehensive course is a medically accurate, competency-based, highly structured babysitting preparation course designed for 11 to 13 year olds. The curriculum includes:
  • Babysitting as a business
  • Success on the Job
  • Child Care Essentials
  • Safety for the Sitter
  • Injury Management
  • Preventing Problem Behavior
  • Care of Choking Infant and Care of Choking Child
  • Preventing Injuries
  • Behavior Management
  • Infant and child CPR
The classes provide up-to-date information that is appropriate for the intellectual and emotional abilities of adolescents and emphasizes responsibility of nurturing and protecting children.

Mary Helen Nelson, RN, MS, Director of Education at Brazosport Regional will instruct the upcoming Safe SitterŪ courses on June 29 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and June 30 from 9:00 PM – 3:30 PM in the classrooms for $25. For more information about the Safe SitterŪ course, please call 979-285-1183
