Brazosport Regional Volunteers held their annual spring meeting on May 6, 2010 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a $35,000 donation to Brazosport Regional Health System.
With the donation of $35,000, the volunteers have provided nearly a million dollars to Brazosport Regional since 1961. All donated funds benefit patient care at Brazosport Regional. “With 145 active members, the health system wouldn’t be viable without the volunteers,” remarked Daniel Buche, CEO/President of Brazosport Regional. “Their gracious donations and hard work contribute to the success of the health system.”
Funds for the donation were raised through sales at the Gift Shop at Brazosport Regional. Volunteers who have staffed the Gift Shop and who have continuously helped families, employees and patients find just the right gift include Elly Barron, Dotty Boomhower, Jerri Collins, Jean Edquist, Suzanne Frenzel, Lina Gamino, Shahinda Hafeez, Carolyn Kent, Edith Low, Marcella Martinez, Robert Martinez, Mary Monroe, Kathy Moore, Bonnie Prescott, Rhonda Waldrep, and Mary Thirtle.
In addition to operating the gift shop, the volunteers are part of many meaningful activities around the health system including delivering newspapers or flowers to patients, answering questions and greeting customers at the information desk, offering refreshments, transporting patients, keeping family members informed, and assisting with special projects. The dedicated team of volunteers is made up of community members who share their talents, abilities, and experiences to make a difference in someone’s life!
The Brazosport Regional Volunteers are always in need of more volunteers and if anyone is interested in enriching their life and being part of this volunteer family, please call 979-285-1185 or visit the website at www.BrazosportRegional.org/VolunteerBRHS.
