Volunteers at Brazosport Regional Receive Path of Success Award from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center honored gold-level groups at their annual “A Celebration for Life” luncheon and awards presentation on February 17. Brazosport Regional Volunteers, a division of Brazosport Regional Health System, achieved the Path of Success in 2009 by hosting blood drives at least once every quarter.

Mary Ann Struthwolf, Volunteer at Brazosport Regional and Chairman for Special Projects, accepted the award at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston. The special event featured a testimonial by Officer Lloyd Morrison, the Houston police officer who was seriously injured in an auto accident last year and has relied on blood donors throughout his recovery. Every minute of every day someone needs blood and only 3 out of every 100 people in the United States donates.

Brazosport Regional Volunteers have a scheduled blood drive on April 9th in the hospital’s classrooms from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. April is family vacation month for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center – you can win a four-pack of tickets to Schlitterbahn in Galveston when you donate between April 1st and April 30th. Other blood drives at Brazosport Regional include June 4th, October 1st, and December 3 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM in the classrooms.
