Brazosport Regional Health System Launches
New Weight Loss Support Group
Want to lose weight Brazoria County? With the help of Betty McClain, a new weight loss support group is being started in the evening hours. The American Obesity Association (AOA) stated 127 million adults living in the United States are overweight or obese.
Obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in America. It has been reported that over 64% of adults and 30% of children (ages 6-19) in America are overweight or obese. Obesity can lead to many health problems including type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. This obesity epidemic often begins in childhood and then continues into adulthood (AOA).
In conjunction with TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), TOPS Area Captain Betty McClain is forming an evening weight loss support group for the Lake Jackson area. TOPS offer a healthy, caring and supportive approach to weight control. The support group will help you learn more about nutrition, healthy eating, portion control, exercise and fun. This meeting will determine if there is enough interest in forming an evening chapter.
The initial weight loss support group will be held at the Nazarene Church in the Fellowship Hall at 801 That Way in Lake Jackson, TX on September 17 at 6:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend and it is free of charge.
