If you feel you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency please call 9-1-1. You may request that the ambulance transport you to Brazosport Regional Health System.
Brazosport Regional Health System offers comprehensive emergency services to people of all ages 24 hours, 365 days a year. As a Level IV Trauma Center, we are the largest provider of emergency services in Brazoria County and serve approximately 33,000 patients annually. The practice philosophy of the physicians at Brazosport Regional Health System Emergency Department is to provide our patients with the best possible care.
Triage
Upon your arrival, your condition will be evaluated to determine the severity and extent of how life-threatening your condition is. Due to the nature of emergencies, those patients with life-threatening illness or injury will be treated first even if you arrived before that individual.
As you are triaged, the nurse will be assessing your medical condition to allow our emergency medical team to better understand your medical condition, treatment needs and/or recommendation for referral based on the severity of your illness or injury. Please understand that waiting periods can occur in the Emergency Department.
You can expect to be asked about the following when you first arrive:
- Current medical condition and symptoms
- Previous medical care and medical history, including your physician's name
- Current prescriptions or over-the-counter medications
Registration
Registration forms help us create a record of your history, diagnosis and treatment. You or a family member will be asked to sign a consent form that will give us permission to treat you. After you are screened by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant, financial information will be requested.
Tests
The Emergency Department has the necessary resources to diagnose your medical condition. Although you may have previously had tests performed in your physician’s office, these tests will not provide us accurate information about your current situation. Some conditions may require further testing, in which case you may be admitted as a patient.
Visiting and Accompanying a Patient
To allow the emergency team a significant amount of space and to ensure the best care for our patients we must limit visitors in the treatment area. We also limit visitors to maintain the appropriate level of privacy for all our patients. We will make every effort to keep the patient informed about their medical condition and allow visitors to enter the room when possible. Children are permitted to have two visitors and adults are permitted to have one. We thank you in advance for your help in respecting our request.
Parking
At Brazosport Regional Health System, we provide free parking for all patients and visitors. For your convenience, a parking lot is provided for all visitors on Emergency Drive. Please park in that area and you may enter through the covered entry.
